SPLM GIVES INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES ONE WEEK TO PULL OUT FROM THE ELECTIONS CONSTEST

The SPLM Political Bureau met Saturday in Juba and gave its members running as independent candidates one week to decide whether to withdraw from the polls.

SPLM secretary general Pagan Amum told the press yesterday that the Political Bureau has given independent candidates until February 13 to reconsider their contesting positions.

Mr. Amum added that if SPLM candidates fail to withdraw their independent applications, the party will take a final decision by the deadline.

SPLM secretary general called on the independent candidates to respect the decision of the political bureau and step down.

He added that failure to do so will create division in the SPLM and its voters.
