An international non-governmental organization is empowering local communities in Nuba Mountains with training on conflict mitigation and peace building.
Pact Sudan community capacity peace building officer in Nuba Mountains, Danis Dati, told Voice of Peace Radio that his mandate is to work hard to strengthen peace and harmony in the region.
He said Pact Sudan is operating in three areas in South Kordofan Ð Kadguli, Mugulat and Kauda Ð in partnership with 27 CBOs, community based organizations.
He explained that Pact provides training and planning to the CBOs.
Mr. Danis said Pact works directly under the Comprehensive Peace Agreement to empower people to implement its resolutions.
The officer called upon the NCP and SPLM-north to resume peace talks in South Kordofan because many civilians are suffering from starvation and aerial bombardments.
