The SPLM leadership has refuted charges by three leading opposition parties in the South accusing the dominant party of being undemocratic and obstructing the opposition.Pagan Amum, the SPLM secretary general, told the press yesterday that on Saturday the NCP, UDF and SSDF accused the SPLM of obstructing their political activities in the region.

Mr. Amum said the accusation is unacceptable because those parties did not take part in the liberation struggle and they are not known by the people of Southern Sudan.
Mr. Amum denied NCP’s allegations that the SPLM is not allowing them a free environment in which to operate.

He said the SPLM is for freedom and equality in the whole country.

Mr. Amum added that the SPLM opposes any person or institution that restricts political freedom whether in Khartoum or in Juba or even within the SPLM.

He called upon all sate authorities to respect GoSS president’s call to allow all political parties exercise their rights without any interference during the elections campaign that starts on Saturday.
