Opposition leaders are urging the SPLM to guarantee peace, security and good governance for the citizens who voted for the secession of South Sudan.

Wilson lodiong Sebit is the Deputy Chairman of the African National Congress Party (ANC). He told Bakhita Radio that southerners should be appreciated by the government for their overwhelming vote on the referendum in early January.

He explained the ruling SPLM party should consider fulfilling the needs of the citizens through good governance.

Anthony Sokon Lazarus, who leads the ANC in Central Equatoria, appealed to all political parties in South Sudan to unite in order to transform South Sudan into a democratic country.

Mr. Sokon asked the government to place the aspirations of the public as top priority.

The two leaders were speaking after the official reception of 15 new members into the ANC, mostly university students.
