RADIO DON BOSCO ON AIR IN TONJ, WARRAP STATE

Radio Don Bosco, the Sudan Catholic Radio Network station of in Tonj, Warrap State, has started testing today.

The new station is the outcome of a close collaboration between SCRN, the diocese of Rumbek and the Salesians of Don Bosco.

The director of Don Bosco 91 FM, Fr. Cyril Odia, told SCR News over the phone that radio is on air since this morning.

He added that the station will serve the local population with programs in English, Dinka, Bongo, Jur and Arabic.

With Radio Don Bosco on air, SCRN has now seven radio stations: Radio Bakhita, in Juba, Radio Voice of Peace, in the Nuba Mountains, Radio Emmanuel, in Torit, Radio Saut al Mahabba in Malakal, Radio Easter in Yei, Radio Good News in Rumbek, and now Radio Don Bosco in Tonj.

Sr. Paola Moggi, SCRN directress, explained to SCR News that each station is rooted in its diocese, and the support and collaboration of the local community are vital to make the radio an effective tool of evangelization, peace-building and development.

SCRN runs also a training centre to prepare journalists and presenters for the network, a news desk that prepares two daily bulletins in English, a production department for shared programmes and a website: www.sudancatholicradio.net.
