EASTERN EQUATORIA LAUNCHES SOUTH SUDAN CURRENCY

Eastern Equatoria state yesterday launched the South Sudanese Pound and urged people to change their old money.

Acting governor Jerome Surur Gama urged the people of South Sudan to embark on production of goods and services and make the currency strong in the market.

He cited the US Dollar, the Chinese Yuen and Ugandan Shillings saying they gained strength due to production in their respective countries.

Mr. Surur also called on citizens to desist from using the money for drinking but for good causes like educating children.

He called upon the public to change the old currency for the South Sudan Pound at the Nile Commercial Bank.

Meanwhile, the acting minister of Finance, Trade and Industries Mark Akio told Radio Emmanuel that the changing of the old currency for South Sudan pound is free of charge.
