A South Sudanese Church leader has acknowledged with great appreciation the missionary zeal of the late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek.
Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak is the Catholic Bishop of Wau Diocese. He said during his homily last Sunday in Rumbek the death of bishop Mazzolari was a great event.He said the bishop’s zeal was unmatched adding that he lived as an exemplary missionary with tenacity, and selflessness.
Bishop Deng added that the late bishop continued in his ministry as if he was in perfect health although he never spoke about his health problems.
Bishop Deng also preached about the special bond between Wau and Rumbek dioceses, explaining the late bishop cared for more than a half of Wau diocese which was in the SPLA held territory during war times.
Bishop Mazzolari passed away last Saturday.
He was laid to rest inside Holy Family Cathedral in Rumbek on Monday evening.
