The Secretary General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba blessed the new South Sudanese currency yesterday when the Central Bank of South Sudan launched the South Sudanese Pound.
President Salva Kiir was the first citizen to change his old Sudanese pounds into the new South Sudanese pound.Fr. Martin Ochaya prayed that the currency be valued and appreciated by South Sudan citizens.
He asked for responsibility, honesty and transparency among the people of South Ssudan as they use the new currency.
Fr. Ochaya underscored the value of money, describing it as public property that needs to be respected.
The last batch of South Sudanese pounds arrived yesterday in Juba, making the printed note of the new currency complete, from one to 100 pounds.
