JUBA, South Sudan | Tuesday, 20 October 2026
The Caretaker Commissioner of Juba County, Kalisto Lado Faustino Nyigilo Wani, on Tuesday presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the installation of solar-powered streetlights along Bilpam Road.
The project is being implemented by Light House General Trading and Investment Co. Ltd., which has pledged its support for the development agenda of Juba County.
Speaking during the ceremony, Commissioner Kalisto Lado described the initiative as an important step toward enhancing public security and modernizing infrastructure across the county.
“I am here to serve our people, not just to sit in the office. This is only the beginning, and we intend to extend street lighting to other roads across Juba County,” he said.
The commissioner also issued a stern warning to motorists against reckless driving and damaging the newly installed streetlight poles, stating that anyone found responsible would face a fine of US$5,000 and three months’ imprisonment.
“We are not joking with the developmental project of the country,” he emphasized.
Commissioner Kalisto Lado called on residents to cooperate with the government and support development initiatives aimed at improving public services and infrastructure across Juba County.
He further urged residents to support the leadership of H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, Caretaker Governor of Central Equatoria State, and H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.
The installation of solar streetlights along Bilpam Road marks a step toward improving road safety, strengthening security, and expanding public infrastructure in Juba County.
