The Bishop of Rumbek gave his life until the very end for his diocese without any regard for his health problems.
Comboni Missionary Fernando Colombo was Rumbek’s former vicar general. He told SCR News that Bishop Caesar Mazzolari offered up all he had including his health and his life for the good of the diocese.He said the late bishop was a hard worker who spent all his energies despite of advises to slow down due to his health and age.
Fr. Colombo added that Bishop Mazzolari’s death was not a surprise due to his ill health.
He stressed that the bishop was blessed with a sudden death while celebrating the Mass.
Bishop Mazzolari, 74, died this morning at Rumbek Hospital after collapsing at Holy Family Cathedral during the mass.
The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
