The Bishop of Yei Diocese, H.L. Alex Lodiong Sakor Eyobo has challenged young people to stop dwelling on their challenges and instead seek practical ways to overcome them.
Bishop Alex urged young people not to allow themselves to be manipulated by politicians or misled by social media.
“Somebody who is over 18 should not continue lamenting throughout. Don’t read the Book of Lamentations always. Also read the Book of Exodus, so that you find a way out to survive.”
The Bishop acknowledged that young people face genuine difficulties and that they may sometimes feel unsupported by the older generation.
He, however, urged them to take responsibility for their future and remain vigilant against political manipulation.
“Don’t allow yourself to be manipulated, particularly with politicians. Don’t allow yourself to be manipulated by social media.”
Bishop Chakor also expressed concern about the way some young people use social media, saying many are using the platforms wrongly.
He said the Church intends to strengthen its youth chaplaincy to help young people understand how to use social media effectively and responsibly.
“We want to give them the effective use of social media platforms.”
