The Coordinator of the Anti-Retroviral Treatment and Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre at Mapuordit Hospital said that the Centre has recorded a higher turnout of clients.

Paul Komakech told Good News Radio during a live program focusing on stigma and discrimination against persons with HIV and AIDS that the Centre at Mary Immaculate Hospital has seen an increased number of clients turning up for voluntary counselling and testing after a slow start.

He added that there is a general interest among the people to know their HIV status.

The number of those enrolling for anti-retroviral therapy has also increased and most of the registered are following the medical prescriptions.

Mr. Komakech observed that clients undergoing care and treatment will live longer.

Mr. Komakech said the radio programmes contributed to the higher HIV and AIDS awareness and more people are coming to seek treatment.

He acknowledged the active participation of listeners through numerous phone calls during live programs.

Mr. Komakech said after independence South Sudan has to win the silent war against HIV.

He urged people to join hands to be free from AIDS.
