The World Bank country director in the Sudan called upon the government of South Sudan to diversify its sources of revenue other than oil.
Ian Banon told the press this morning that South Sudan is the only country that depends almost entirely on oil revenue to finance itself. He added that it was critical that the economy had other sources of income.
Mr. Banon noted that managing an oil economy is complicated because oil prices change regularly.
He advised the region to engage in the private sector and agriculture.
South Sudan gets 98 percent of its income from oil revenue.
