The commission in charge of evaluating the implementation of the peace agreement says the Comprehensive Peace Agreement has run its course with the end of the interim period.

Sir Derek Plumbly is the chairperson of the Assessment and Evaluation Commission (AEG). Yesterday, presented his last report yesterday.

He announced also the end of the Commission saying it was one manifestation of the historic change taking place in South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.

The AEC urged an immediate deployment of a new UN peacekeeping force in Abyei, the appointment of the administration and the safe return of all displaced persons.

The report underlined the seriousness of the conflict in Southern Kordofan and of its humanitarian consequences.

It welcomes the framework agreement on political partnership and security arrangements in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states concluded in Addis Ababa last month.

The report looks forward to strong neighbourly relations between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan.
