A civil society umbrella group congratulated all south and north Sudanese on the historic completion of the CPA era and the emerging of a new nation.
The Southern Sudan Civil Society Taskforce issued a joint statement signed by ten members commending every citizen, friends, international community that made contributions in advocating for a peaceful process.The civil society taskforce also noted that achieving peace, development and security will be an enormous challenge for the new country.
The statement said that the civil society will continue to support the government in establishing a decentralized democratic multi-party system of governance.
It added that power should be peacefully transferred and values of human dignity and equal rights and duties of men and women upheld.
