HUMANITARIAN AGENCIES READY TO ASSIST MAGWI CYCLONE VICTIMS

UN and NGO agencies agreed yesterday to provide much needed relief to the people affected by a devastating wind storm in Magwi, Eastern Equatoria.

Over 3,000 people were left homeless and without food after a strong wind blew over Magwi on Monday night, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Over 250 houses were destroyed.

Magwi County administration block, commercial buildings and Magwi central primary school suffered big damages and food crops were devastated.

State minister for humanitarian affairs and disaster management Beneya Benjamin Kitara conveyed a meeting with UN agencies and NGOs yesterday to launch a relief appeal.

The humanitarian organization assured the minister of their commitment to assist the victims of Magwi’s cyclone.
