The security situation in South Kordofan State remains tense and volatile and heavy gunfire and aerial bombardments were reported south of Kadugli every day till Tuesday.

UNOCHA’s latest report on South Kordofan says helicopter gunships were engaged in offensive air operations west of Kadugli on Monday.

It adds that the numbers of civilian casualties in recent days is unknown.

The report says government authorities are not allowing UN agencies and NGOs free access to any location outside Kadugli town.

The Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) says access is being denied because of the current security situation and the presence of landmines.
