The Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Tombura–Yambio, Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has officially inaugurated a new nursery and primary school at St. Augustine Parish in Yambio, marking another milestone in the Church’s ongoing investment in education.
During the inauguration ceremony held on Friday, Bishop Hiiboro described the new institution as a “house of wisdom and knowledge” that will lay a strong foundation for raising responsible and visionary leaders in South Sudan.
The project was initiated last year through collaboration between Solidarity Teachers and Catholic Sisters, with generous support from partners in Poland. The facility currently accommodates learners from nursery to Primary Two, and plans are underway to expand it to higher classes in the near future.
Located in Nagori residential area, the school aims to provide accessible and affordable education to children within Yambio town and surrounding communities, contributing to efforts to strengthen early childhood and primary education across Western Equatoria State.
Church officials reaffirmed their commitment to advancing educational opportunities and community development, emphasizing that education remains a key pillar of the Diocese’s pastoral mission.
