About 300 boys and girls from Upper Nile are ready to sing the nation anthem during the celebration of independence in Malakal.

Trainer Salva Peter said some students who are still behind shall finish learning the national anthem before Saturday, Voice of Love FM reported.

He added that the Upper Nile National Anthem Choir is working very hard to make July 9 a colourful and important day for the people of South Sudan.

Mr. Peter said the celebration will be very meaningful for him because it is also his birthday.

Choir member Teresa Edward Aba said she was happy to see that some of the students managed to sing the national hymn by themselves.

Tabitha Mathew Aloung, aged 16, said she wanted South Sudan to be a peaceful country with quality education and equal chances for girls and boys.
