A Catholic priest in the Diocese of Torit has urged believers to strengthen evangelization despite the many difficulties facing families, communities, and the country.

During his sermon at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Torit, Fr. Kalisto Lokuya said believers must reflect God’s presence by being a source of light and peace in society.

“God is not blind to the situations we see in the world, in our communities, and in our families. God may be speaking to us through these situations. It is up to us to become right in the midst of this darkness. Darkness is shame, light is holiness. God wants us, despite difficulties, to shine so that His presence may be felt. If we do not transform ourselves as believers, darkness will continue to dominate.”

Fr. Kalisto said evangelization promotes change, generosity, and mutual support in society.

“If we are open to God despite our weaknesses and problems, God can use us to bring salvation to one another. We can become light to each other. The Lord calls us every day to shine, to change lives, to help and support one another amid the ups and downs of life.”

The priest made the remarks to the congregation on Sunday at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Torit.
