The Vice President in charge of the Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, has described the just-concluded Mundari Cultural Festival as a vital forum that promotes unity and peaceful coexistence among communities.

On Monday, 19 January 2026, Dr. James Wani Igga held a meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the Presidency, where they discussed the country’s current political landscape, security situation, and economic conditions. The discussions emphasized the importance of achieving stability ahead of the much-anticipated general elections scheduled for December this year.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges facing the country, including security concerns, economic recovery, and preparations for the upcoming polls.

Dr. Igga, who also serves as the SPLM First Deputy Chairman, briefed the President on internal party matters, focusing on key organizational issues aimed at strengthening the SPLM’s role in South Sudan’s political process.
