The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has ordered all aircraft operators at Juba International Airport to remove grounded, unserviceable, or non-operational aircraft within 30 days, citing safety, security, and operational concerns.

In an official circular dated January 10, 2026, and signed by the Director General, Dr. Ayii Garang Deng Ayii, the authority warned that the presence of abandoned or unserviceable aircraft on taxiways, aprons, and other movement areas poses serious risks and restricts the efficient use of airport infrastructure.

The directive prohibits parking aircraft on taxiways, runways, or movement areas under any circumstances, in line with the Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2012 and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices.

According to the circular, affected operators must coordinate with airport management to arrange recovery, towing, relocation, repair, export, or disposal of the aircraft using approved procedures.

The SSCAA cautioned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will result in enforcement actions, including removal of the aircraft at the operator’s cost, recovery of associated expenses, and other regulatory measures deemed necessary to ensure aerodrome safety and operational efficiency.

The directive takes effect immediately and has been copied to relevant government ministries and security agencies, including the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Interior, airport management, aviation security, and national security authorities.
