The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has imposed stricter controls on access to the airside area of Juba International Airport, as part of renewed efforts to enhance aviation safety and security.

In a public notice issued by the Office of the Director General, the authority announced that access to the restricted airside zone will now be limited exclusively to authorized personnel and vehicles holding valid official permits. These include the Airside Vehicle Permit (AVP), Airport Restricted Area Permit (ARO), or any other access documentation approved by the SSCAA.

The authority warned that no individual or vehicle will be permitted to enter the airside area without proper clearance, stressing that unauthorized access constitutes a serious breach of aviation safety and security regulations. Offenders, the notice said, will be subject to legal action in accordance with the law.

The SSCAA clarified that the directive does not apply to His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Sudan, the Vice Presidents, and their officially designated vehicles.

Calling for public cooperation, the aviation authority said the new measures are critical to ensuring safety, security, and orderly operations at Juba International Airport, the country’s main international gateway.

The directive has been formally communicated to key security stakeholders at the airport, including the Aviation Security Department, the National Security Service, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Military Intelligence.
