NGOs have started assisting internally displaced people in South Kordofan state.
Heavy fighting taking place in the state since the beginning of June has displaced more than 400,000 thousand people.Heiban County SPLM chairperson Younan Albarut Ajour told the press that NGOs have formed teams working in collaboration with local government to provide food and non-food items to IDPs.
He said that most of the IDPs were without spare clothing.
Mr. Albarut added that the Norwegian Church Aid is supporting IDPs with plastic sheets, utensils and farm tools.
He said Khartoum shut down the mobile network in Nuba Mountains in order not to allow the world to know what is going on in the region.
