Authorities in Central Equatoria state arrested two men for illegally hunting wild animals.

Director for Wildlife Service in Central Equatoria state, Charles Minga Yudi, told the press that the authorities arrested two men for illegal hunting.

Mr. Minga said the poachers were ambushed and arrested on Tuesday on Juba-Nimule road, about 15 miles from Nesitu.

He added that the poachers established a camp where people from Gumbo and Juba went to buy wild meat.

Mr. Minga said the arrested men were using snares, bows and arrows.

He added that the two men will be investigated and brought to the court of law.

Mr. Minga said the meat will be auctioned and the money and the skins used as evidence in court.

He added that poaching has become common in the state, particularly during the dry season when animals have to come to the river for water.

Mr. Minga said this was not the first time that the authorities in Central Equatoria have arrested poachers within their territory.
