HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION DISCUSES GOOD GOVERNANCE AFTER INDEPENDENCE

South Sudan Human Rights Commission organized a one-day meeting in collaboration with civil society groups to discuss human rights activities after independence.

While speaking to the press in Juba yesterday, the chairperson of South Sudan Human Rights Commission, Lawrence Korbandy, said the participants are lobbying for human rights to be introduced in both primary and secondary schools curriculum.

Mr. Korbandy stated that the human rights literature should transform different societies into one society of peace.

He said that his commission is planning to invite all the ministers from the ten states of South Sudan in the upcoming consultative meeting.

Mr. Korbandy stated that the commission will share their views with the civil society over the kind of good governance expected in the upcoming new nation.

He said the commission will also discuss the next’s government shape should be critical in order to allow the new country to deliver enough resources to her citizens.

The consultative meeting shall take place after July 9 2011.
