Kiir Swears In New Central Bank Governor, Urges Swift Action on Liquidity Crisis

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday, 17 Nov.2025, swore in the newly appointed Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Yeni Samuel Costa, tasking him with urgently addressing the country’s worsening liquidity crisis.

Speaking during the ceremony at the State House, J1, President Kiir called on the new governor and his team to act decisively to restore macroeconomic stability amid rising inflation and persistent hard-currency shortages.

He emphasized that the Central Bank must fully uphold its mandate to maintain price stability and safeguard a strong, stable domestic economy. He

Alongside Costa, the President also swore in the Chairperson and members of the Board of the National Communication Authority (NCA).

Kiir urged the incoming NCA leadership to prioritize the delivery of reliable, accessible, and nationwide communication services, noting the sector’s critical role in national development and security.

Officials present at the event expressed confidence that fresh leadership at both the Central Bank and the NCA would bring a renewed commitment to reforms, improved service delivery, and strengthened public trust in key national institutions.
