LAKES GOVERNOR PROMISES ZERO TOLERANCE TO CRIME AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Governor of Lakes State has promised zero tolerance to crime in the State while the Government of South Sudan is going to deploy extra organized forces to stop the wave of violence in the area ahead of independence.

Chol Tong Mayay met with press yesterday soon after he arrived from Juba after a two-week official visit to several government offices.

The Governor urged the citizens of Lakes State to maintain calm and peace ahead of the celebration of independence and stop killings in the state.

Eng. Tong said his government was not going to tolerate any public disturbances.

He urged the citizens of the state to turn up at the various celebration grounds on July 9 to honour the Independence.

Eng. Tong informed the press that during his stay in Juba he met President Salva Kiir Mayardit to discuss issues related to insecurity in Lakes State.

He informed that the government promised to deploy immediately more troops and police in the State to bring insecurity under control.

Eng. Tong said he also met with the GoSS ministers for Finance and Information to discuss issues related to development and the coverage of independence celebrations in the state.

Many natives of Lakes State live in permanent fear due to multiple incidents of revenge attacks that have been taking place in the state, especially at night.
