The Catholic Diocese of Tombura–Yambio has announced the establishment of a new international shrine for prayer and pilgrimage at Kodati, located in the Ezo Vicariate.

This major spiritual initiative, named the Santa Trinita International Shrine, is being developed in collaboration with the neighboring Diocese of Bangassou in the Central African Republic and the Diocese of Dungu-Doruma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The shrine is envisioned to become a cross-border center for worship, reconciliation, and regional unity, welcoming Catholics and other pilgrims from across the region.

The announcement was made during a diocesan proclamation ceremony held at St. Mary Mother of God Cathedral in Yambio, presided over by Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala. The occasion also marked the 11th anniversary of the passing and the 95th birthday of the late Titarani Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite, whose enduring legacy continues to inspire faith and service throughout the Diocese.

In addition to the shrine announcement, the Diocese unveiled several pastoral initiatives aimed at strengthening its mission and community outreach. These include the canonical establishment and elevation of parishes and Catholic communities, such as Queen of All Saints Catholic Parish in Baragu, formerly under Holy Trinity Parish, Andari.

Saints Mary and Martha Parish in Madoro, reflecting the area’s spiritual growth and expanding Catholic presence.

In Nakindo-Sene, the St. John the Baptist Center was elevated to St. Michael the Arkangelo Catholic Quasi-Parish, to enhance pastoral care in the region.

The Diocese also formally inaugurated the St. Jude Catholic Spiritual Center, which will serve as a hub for retreats, counseling, healing ministries, and spiritual formation. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Anisoke was appointed as the Center’s first Director.

In Maridi, the Holy Cross of Unity Shrine, under the patronage of Our Lady of Fatima, was established, strengthening Marian devotion and promoting unity among the faithful.
