Militias loyal to Peter Gadet have killed over 10 people in a surprise attack last Friday on Turalei, in Warrap State.
SPLA spokesperson Phillip Aguer said the militias targeted IDPs from Abyei and the Turalei civil administration.He accused the Sudan Armed Forces of using the militias to depopulate the border areas and do the dirty work for them like in the past.
Mr. Aguer said although the SPLA put some measures are in place to protect civilians, the border is big too big to 100 percent secure.
He added that the militia operates like terrorists targeting civilians instead of attacking the army.
The incident happened just days after the Juba and Khartoum agreed to deploy the Ethiopian forces to protect Abyei civilians, maintain a buffer zone and create a peaceful environment for the Abyei referendum.
