A high-level South Sudanese delegation led by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Johnny Ohisa Damian, returned to Juba on Sunday, May 4, after attending the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.
The officials engaged in key discussions on development priorities and financial reform with various international stakeholders and donor representatives.
Governor Damian met with Türkiye’s Central Bank Governor, Fatih Karahan, to explore opportunities for collaboration on digital payments and financial inclusion. Additionally, the delegation held meetings with the World Bank’s President for Development Finance and the World Bank Country Team for South Sudan.
Discussions centered on performance monitoring and sectoral engagement across several critical areas, including agriculture, health, education, water resources, transport, and public financial management.
The delegation also held sideline meetings with strategic development partners, finance ministers, and central bank governors from the East African Community, aiming to strengthen regional cooperation and economic resilience.
