Civic educators and media practitioners should exercise their role impartiality while conducting their activities towards the April 11 elections.

The observation was made by the Programme Manager of Community Empowerment for Rural Transformation, Samson Ngota while opening a five-day training workshop for civic educators and journalists Monday at Yei Community Resource Centre.

Civic educators, including journalists and resource persons, are being trained to take part in the elections sensitization tour of Yei River County, called the Democracy Bus.

Manager for Yei Community Resource Centre, Eric Moses, explained that it was paramount to involve people in discussing the relevance of elections and their participation in the process to democratically elect leaders of their choice.

He further disclosed that the Democracy Bus tour was designed to meet all categories of people especially in rural areas.

The democracy bus will tour 15 payams in Central Equatoria State counties of Yei, Morobo and Lainya from February 8 to March 12 to educate the electorate on the electoral process, the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the importance of free and fair elections.

Members from different civil society organizations as well as Sudanese and Ugandan musicians and artists together with students from Denmark are expected to sensitize voters through theatre, songs and public debates in selected areas, during the tour.
