Gunfight breaks out in Cueicok Payam, Rumbek Central County of Lakes State between Mony-tiik and Joth sections on Tuesday.
Authority reported that the cause of the gunfight is “disputes over an impregnated girl”, where the family of the impregnated girl clashed with that of the young man.
Sources confirm the clash has continued the following morning on Wednesday before the government intervention.
While speaking to Radio Good News over the phone, the acting minister of information, Hon. William Koji Kirjok, says that at least five people have been confirmed dead and three others injured in the clash since yesterday.
Hon. Koji said the top government officials and community leaders have swarmed to the scene to contain the situation and ensure it does not continued.
The acting minister safeguarded that the situation has now been neutralized upon the deployment of heavy security forces in the area.
He additionally stated that the two sections have been separated and the government officials and other concerned authorities are still on ground to oversee the situation.
William Koji says that the state is peaceful now and such cases are related to alcohol, theft, or girls.
He further mentioned that the lives lost would have been spared if the case had been followed with the government.
Rumbek State hospital’s medical officer, Dr. Teran Madit Teran, confirms the hospital received the gunfight patients, saying that one patient died yesterday on the operation table and another patient who seems to be stable has been brought this morning.
The acting minister of information made his remarks during a telephone interview with Radio Good News, meanwhile Dr. Teran spoke to the radio at the state hospital
