A group of kids known as Bakhita Children yesterday planted many trees, backing a campaign to keep Juba green.

The Bakhita Children group, which is composed of over 100 kids, aims at strengthening the kids spiritually and morally and meets at Bakhita Radio every Sunday afternoon for a live programme.

Yesterday, over 70 kids received a tree each to plant at home and preserve the environment.

Thirteen-year old Sunday Adelio expressed her happiness for being able to plant a tree.

Dominica Anthony Olum, who works in the office of the Holy Childhood at the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba, said the children received some basic knowledge about the environment and civic education.

She helps teaching the children in the weekly gathering at Bakhita Radio.

Mama Domenica said the tree planting action was part of the Catholic programme to celebrate the independence of South Sudan.

Sr. Cecilia Sierra, directress of Bakhita Radio, said the children have learned the value of preserving the environment, care for creation and the goodness of protecting life.

Sr. Sierra revealed she was happy about the activities with children in the station.

She said the children communicate what they have learned to their families and soon the environment will be greener and healthier.
