The Bishop of Tombura-Yambio has called on the faithful in the catholic Diocese of Torit to plant trees as a symbol of life for the new nation.
Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala urged every family member to plant trees before and after the independence of South Sudan.The call by the Catholic Bishop came on the day the World commemorates Environment Day.
Bishop Hiboro associated the trees with the young nation of South Sudan that will require the care of all citizens for proper growth.
He asserted that the possible means is to ask the guidance of God through prayers so that South Sudan remains a country of dignity.
Bishop Hiiboro advised the people of South Sudan to compare their independence to that of other African countries and make a difference.
He stressed that peace should prevail in the new nation and urged people to avoid external factors that transfer violence into South Sudan.
Bishop Hiiboro celebrated the Ascension Sunday, yesterday, at Our Lady of Assumption Church in solidarity with Christians of the Catholic Diocese of Torit .
Hundreds of Catholic faithful turned up for the mass that was attended by state ministers, Members of Parliament and government advisors.
