Hundreds of Christians from various denominations gathered at the Holy Family Chapel, part of St. Theresa Cathedral, to celebrate Fr. John Ngbemboyo’s 25th anniversary in the priesthood.
The event brought together Catholic and Episcopal clergy, government officials, and community members to honor Fr. John’s service.
“With this celebration of my Silver Jubilee, you are giving me and my brothers renewed hope. You remind us that serving the Lord is worthwhile, and we are not alone.”
Fr. John expressed gratitude for the love and support shown by the congregation, describing it as a source of strength for the clergy as they continue their mission.
He also called on the faithful to pray for priests, acknowledging the challenges of the priesthood.
“We need your prayers. The life of a priest requires perseverance. When we are well, we carry a joyful message, which helps sustain us.”
In closing, Fr. John urged the community to communicate openly with priests, encouraging direct dialogue instead of gossip.
“We have the right to talk with our priests directly. Let us engage with them, not talk behind their backs.”
