The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau, His Lordship Bishop Matthew Remijio Adam, has called on the faithful to reject the spirit of self-interest, which he says leads to division among people based on personal interests.

Speaking during the Holy Sunday Mass at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Wau, Bishop Remijio emphasized that self-interest often manifests as the pursuit of personal rights, at the expense of community harmony.

He warned against Christians forming exclusive groups, believing that only their associations hold the truth and blessings from God.

The Bishop explained that many people desire to be superior to others without considering their actions, a behavior that has divided society into isolated groups.

Bishop Remijio also urged believers to reflect on whether their lives truly align with God’s will. He pointed out that some individuals, despite their efforts to bring peace and reconciliation, may not be guided by the will of God.

These remarks were made during the first Mass on Sunday at St. Mary Help of Christians Church.
