A bishop called upon the youth of South Sudan to take an active role in the development of their communities.

Bishop Hillary Luate of the Episcopal Church of Sudan said the youth form the majority in the community.

He urged them to get involved in voluntary work as a first step towards a paid job.

Bishop Luate encouraged the young people to form groups that are useful to the community.

He added that the youth groups must have a clear vision for Yei and for South Sudan

Bishop Luate congratulated and thanked the government for the construction of the Youth Garden in Yei.

The ECS bishop made these remarks on Saturday during the official opening of the centre.

The Youth Garden is a multipurpose centre with a conference hall, a restaurant and leisure area for activities with young people.
