Civil servants in Western Bahr El Ghazal state express deep concerns over salary delay saying it create dispute among the families.
They are calling the government of South Sudan to pay their wages as soon as possible citing that the current economic crises that the Country is experiencing have become a threat to their life.
Some workers speaks to Voice of Hope radio in Wau expressing worry over the lack of salary payments which is affecting all the citizens including the unemployed.
(Mary John (Not her real name) questioned why the government can’t pay their salaries on time when they do their work as mandated without any delay.
The civil servants narrated that, life is pressuring the people in very many ways which in turn leads to security instability because the market prices have deteriorated and people have no money.
They recognized that most of the government institutions seem to be empty during working hours because people are tired of going to work every day yet they are receiving nothing.
“The situation is worsening, people are traumatized and there is no clear reason why the government is not addressing this problem,” they narrate.
They call on the government to look into the situation and address this issue as soon as possible; otherwise, people are gradually losing their lives because of the bad situation.
It is mentioned that, since last year, the civil servants have not received their salaries for more than eight months
Civil servants and members of the organized force in South Sudan have now gone for six months without receiving their salaries, a situation that prompted reactions from activists, lawmakers and foreign envoys.
