Abyei residents displaced by last week’s violent combats are dying of hunger.
The alert comes from Fr. Anthony Agok, working in Turalei Parish in Warrap State. He told SCR News over the phone that hunger was killing displaced people from Abyei.
He added that there were more than 60,000 Abyei displaced persons in Turalei, Mayen Abun and Wunrok, and their situation is very difficult.
Fr. Agok said that the World Food Programme is moving around to assess the situation and gather the displaced together in order to start feeding them.
He added the displaced urgently needed shelter and medicines.
