KAUDA CENTRE GRADUATES OVER 500 TEACHERS

Kauda Teachers Training Centre, in Nuba Mountains, has so far graduated over 500 teachers who are currently in the field.

The Principal of the college, Jarigi Kumir Papa, told Voice of Peace Radio that the institution is supported financially and technically by Kauda Regional Education Office in collaboration with the Norwegian Church Aid.

The said the centre has been operating since 2003 to curb the shortage of teachers in Nuba Mountains.

It started with crash courses in English plus a nine-month training period.

Mr. Kumir said the college reopened on May 5.

It has so far registered 155 students, including 46 girls.

Mr. Kumir said the centre is using the New Sudan syllabus.

He added he expects the University of Juba to send lecturers to teach at the Centre.
