Tonj residents marked today the tenth anniveristy of their town’s bombing while they were celebrating the Catholic Feast of Mary the Help of Christians.
Marko Mangok, a member of Don Bosco brass band, recalled that Tonj was bombed ten years ago by an Antonov plane after the faithful finished the procession of Mary the Help of Christians.He added that nobody was killed during the bombing.
Mr. Mangok said people learned how to recognize the distant humming Antonovs made and would take cover when they heard the bombers flying high in the sky.
Mr. Mangok said ten years ago he was praying for peace because he was tired of hearing about people dying and nobody could rest with the war.
Hundreds of people gathered today at Don Bosco Secondary School in Tonj for the celebration of Mary the Help of Christians.
