President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called for the National Police Service to be more professionalized as he officiated the graduation of new officers on Thursday 29th February 2024.
Kiir said police as custodians of the law should build strong relationships with civilians in the country.
This came after the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) graduated more than 800 officers from Batches 22 and 23.
The graduates include 277 officers from the non-skills category, and 244 and 112 from secondary and university levels respectively.
The Head of State urged officers to be vigilant to protect the civil population and their properties during the upcoming general elections.
The Minister of Interior Mrs Angelina Teny said the graduation of the Police is a strong message to criminals and that they should start hiding.
The event was attended by the Chief Inspector General of the police from the Republic of Rwanda.
Ululations filled John Garang Museleum as relatives of graduates could be seen giving flowers and taking pictures with their loved ones.
Some of the officers express their excitement during graduation and pledge to work to encounter crimes in the Country.
