The Vice President for Infrastructure in the Republic of South Sudan has said the government has completed the master plan of the new capital city of the Republic of South Sudan Ramchiel and is ready for implementation.

Speaking during Monday’s 2nd edition of the Juba economic forum, the Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster; Taban Deng Gai, said the project requires billions of dollars for the new capital city.

Taban Deng states that the government of South Sudan is lobbying for finances from a partner for the new capital city Ramchiel.

“Another major project is Ramchael City, the new capital of South Sudan. The master plan of Ramchael City is ready for implementation, it is a dollar project, and we are looking for finances to partner with the government on this major project.”
The Vice President for Infrastructure explains that Ramchael is designed to be a smart city and there will be enough land for investors.

“One good thing about Ramciel is that it’s designed to be a smart city, and the problem of land that is facing us in Juba, the question of land that is facing investors in Juba, is not in Ramchael and investors will be having a land title for 99 years.”

Deng Gai adds that the land issue in Juba is not giving space for investors to come and invest, citing that the new capital city of South Sudan will attract investors to come to South Sudan.

He calls on leaders of Central Equatoria State to resolve the land issue to allow investors to come and invest.

The Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster was speaking during the opening of the 2nd edition of the Juba Economic Forum in Juba.

Central Equatoria State held a second edition of the Juba Economic Forum which brought 300 participants from Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Uganda Tanzania, and other Neighboring Countries.

The three-day Juba event held under the theme, “Infrastructure Investment for Sustainable Development” will be concluded on Wednesday, 28th February 2024.
