His Eminence Michael Cardinal Czerny is urging young people in South Sudan to recognize the fact that their education and their development is their first primary responsibility.

Cardinal Czerny said youth shouldn’t give up to pursue their studies even if the opportunities are few because they will contribute to the positive societal change.

“The most important thing I think for the young of this Country is to accept the fact, to recognize the fact that their own life, their education, and their development is first and primarily their own.”

In another word, even if opportunities are few, the difficulties are great, the facilities are poor, that doesn’t mean young people should give up educating themselves and preparing themselves to make a real contribution to their society.”

The prefect for the Dicastery of Integral Human Development at the Vatican adds that to react with violence is to betray one country.

Cardinal challenges the young people of South Sudan to take the future into their own hands and take the first central step in preparing themselves to contribute to the Country.

“So I would not only encourage but challenge the young people to take the future into their own hands and make the first central step which is to prepare themselves to contribute to the society.”

Cardinal Michael narrates that his visit to South Sudan is to experience a better or more hopeful South Sudan than what they have in the media in North and West Europe.

I’m happy to go back and tell Pope Francis that the beginning of the Peace pilgrimage that he brought to South Sudan has started yelling its fruits,“ said Czerny.”

“The Holy Father was here a year ago, on a pilgrimage of peace, and he would want to hear what the pilgrimage of peace has produced, the fruits that it’s bringing. And I’m happy to go back and say that there are beginning of fruits.”
