Sacred Heart Sisters gets new leadership

The congregation of the Sacred Heart Sisters on Sunday has officially announced the new leaders to lead them for the next six years.

After spending one month of the religious chapter at Kit Peace Center, the congregation elected five Reverend Sisters to take over the leadership role from their predecessors.

The new leaders include Sister Felicita Humwara elected as the Superior General, to be deputized by Paksa Binen as the Vicariate.

Sister Doren Kirunga takes the position of an Assistant General to be supported by two other sisters: Sister Regina Gabriel Oyoo and Sister Victoria Akot Saturlino.

The newly elected Superior General in her remarks to the congregation at Saint Theresa thanks to all those who supported them during the process including those from Uganda and Sudan provinces.

The religious Institute of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SHS) was founded by Bishop Sixtus Mazzoldi MCCJ on 28th March 1954, with the first profession of four (4) Sisters. In 1949 some girls in the Juba Diocese expressed the desire to consecrate themselves to God in their religious life.
