JUBA RANKS 159 IN BEST BUSINESS PLACES TABLE

A new report from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) released yesterday in Juba said the region ranks number 159 in the scale of best countries for business in the world.

The publication titled “Doing Business in Juba 2011” recognizes that the government of South Sudan is making efforts to improve the business environment for small and medium enterprises across the region, Bakhita Radio reported.

David Bridman, IFC African Regional product manager, said Juba occupies place number 159 in a scale of 183 countries while Khartoum is number 154.

Juba e Khartoum are among the worst countries for business in the world while Singapore tops the list as the easiest country for commerce.

Mr. Bridman called upon the government of South Sudan to improve laws to ease businesses across the region.

Mr. Bridman acknowledged the tremendous progress on business facilities in Juba since the signing of the CPA in 2005.

He affirmed that the report shows GoSS’ commitment to improve the business environment in the region and attract investment.

The report “Doing Business in Juba 2011 represents the first assessment of business regulations in the region.
