The Director of Wau Central Prison of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, George Gabriel Gilo has unveiled a plan not to release inmates pardoned by the President during his New Year nation’s address.
Wau Central Prison says it will not be able to release some inmates despite President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s gesture during the New Year celebration Pardoned 20 Inmates across the country.
Director Explains, that amnesty has some pre-conditions and requirements that are to be met by prisons or inmates themselves.
He says prisoners that are supposed to be released are those inmates without personal rights and are sentenced to two years imprisonment but prisoners in Wau Central prison didn’t meet the criteria or conditions.
Gabriel Gilo mentions that no organization came to release prisoners but last year Islamic Council came and asked for those who were fine with 200,000 SSP but couldn’t come back after they were given details based on request.
The Director of Wau Central Prison made these statements to Voice of Hope Radio on Friday.
