ARCHBISHOP OF JUBA URGES CHURCH PERSONNEL TO REMAIN UNITED

The archbishop of Juba called on church personal to dedicate themselves to build up the church and work for the salvation of the world.


Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro called a meeting this morning with priests, and religious sisters and brothers serving in the archdiocese of Juba.

Archbishop Lukudu asked the over 60 church personnel who turned up for the meeting at St Joseph’s Pastoral Hall in Juba to cooperate in the pastoral service.

He said all are carrying the same cross, the cross of Christ.

Archbishop Lukudu underlined that priests and religious cannot do without the laity.

The archbishop criticized church personnel for asking favours directly from the government authorities without the approval of his office.

Archbishop Lukudu said the Church should not behave as miserable beggars.

He added that the current political situation is difficult and the church personnel should be wise.

The Archbishop cautioned priests against political activism in time of elections.

Archbishop Lukudu asked church personnel to follow the political situation closely but avoid giving their points of view publicly.

Finally, the Archbishop called on the parish priests to present a monthly report on Sunday and other collections to promote transparency and good administration.

The meeting ended with a period of questions and answers.
