The body of Late Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban was on Wednesday flown to Nimule, Eastern Equatoria.
Hundreds of Christians received the casket of the late Bishop at Saints Francis of Assisi in Nimule this morning before proceeding to Uganda.
The remains of the 87-year-old Bishop arrived in Juba from Nairobi on Tuesday where he died after battling with illness.
Fr. Martin Vuni of the Torit Diocese said the body of the late Emeritus Bishop Paride will be taken to Kuron on Thursday morning and then back to Torit where he will be put to his final rest at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral.
“Decisions have already been taken, the bishop’s body will be flown to Adjumani on Wednesday in the afternoon and then it will be taken to Kuron on Thursday morning, and then from Kuro, he will be brought back to Torit,” he said.
Fr. Vuni stated that the request from the faithful from the other counties could not be fulfilled due to a lack of resources.
“Those requests which have been passed on cannot be fulfilled because owing to other factors, the bishop’s body cannot stay out forever biologically it will break down, and then also the resources to move the body by plane from one place to another challenge which cannot be surmounted,” he added.
The Catholic priest however called on the faithful to engage in prayers as that can unite us in spirit.
He further for those who could afford to come to the mentioned locations should avail themselves.
“The best thing to do is to engage in prayer because in prayer we can unite in spirit, so what we cannot do physically we do it spiritually when we are engaged in prayers,”
“I think we share communion with everybody those who can be in those locations like Torit you are welcome but they can’t they can pray where they are and I think it serves the same purpose,” Fr. Vuni said.
Catholic Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban died in Nairobi, Kenya last week and he arrived in Juba on Tuesday 7th November, received by Church leaders from different denominations, government officials, and Christians.
